Captain America 4 is better than any Tom Holland movie

Anthony Mackie makes bold statements about his upcoming Captain America film debut, claiming the film is “way better” than the Spider-Man star’s films Tom HollandWhile the internet is full of angry opinions about the CGI look of Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk, Mackie cites the experienced actor as one of the reasons why Captain America: Brave New World is a better film than anything Holland has done before – and that apparently includes his hugely popular Spider-Man appearances.

Mackie is the latest star to appear on the official Marvel podcast, sharing his thoughts on what fans can expect from Marvel Studios’ first family-friendly release since 2023. Captain Marvel Consequence, The miracles. While discussing the upcoming release, Mackie took a playful jab at Holland while announcing his first major appearance with the famous shield. When asked why fans should be excited for the film, Mackie said:

“Well, he’s Cap. Finally. Now we see him going on missions on his own and trying to figure out where he fits in the whole world. This is way better than any of Tom Holland’s movies. And I have Harrison Ford!”

For those worried that Mackie might be a little cruel to Holland, there is a history between the two actors that has existed since their first MCU appearance together. in Captain America: Civil War. Mackie poked fun at Holland’s “diva” behavior during the filming of this pivotal Infinity Saga movie, while Holland later retaliated by pointing out that there was a distinct lack of Falcon movies (Mackie’s previous role in the MCU). It seems that, just like Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Mackie and Holland have a long-standing, albeit lighthearted, feud that still simmers.

Captain America: Brave New World is a big test for the MCU

Although 2024 has proven that Marvel Studios can still produce profitable and audience-pleasing films, the success of Deadpool and Wolverine isn’t the best indicator of how future MCU films will fare. This summer’s blockbuster has many factors that contributed to its phenomenal performance. From the chemistry of its lead actors – both on and off screen – to the hype the film generated thanks to relentless marketing from Reynolds and Jackman, and just a small helping of the return of big ol’ Wolverine and several other major cameos, the film didn’t become a success simply because it’s another Marvel movie.

Captain America: Brave New World is now the gatekeeper to the future of the MCU, and how it performs at the box office will be a strong indicator of whether the time off for the main MCU continuity in 2024 has worked. The Captain America franchise hasn’t always been the biggest in terms of box office, and with Civil War Since it’s a mini Avengers movie, it’s hard to really include it in the balance. Captain America: The First Avenger grossed $370 million at the box office, which wasn’t great considering the reported budget could have been over $200 million. Captain America: The Winter Soldier rolled out, the MCU was established and the film grossed a very solid $714 million. This was followed by Captain America: Civil War and its enormous earnings of over $1.15 billion.

The Captain America franchise has grossed $2.238 billion across three films. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy brought in an incredible $4 billion.
