Barcelona will earn 30 million euros this summer by selling reserve players

FC Barcelona’s prestigious youth academy, known for producing some of the best young talents in football, is facing a difficult reality.

Despite the success in developing future stars, it remains difficult for reserve players to break into the first team due to the high level of competition. This situation often leads to these promising young players looking elsewhere for opportunities to play regularly in the first team.

This summer was no exception. Although Barcelona’s financial situation influenced their approach, the Catalan club was able to raise a significant amount of money by selling players who played for Barça Athletic last season.

So far, Barcelona has accumulated around 18 million euros and could earn up to 30 million euros from these transfers this summer.

Chelsea contributed €6 million for striker Marc Guiu, and Estanis Pedrola was signed permanently from Sampdoria for €3 million after the team exercised the option to buy following his appearance in 10 games.

The transfer of Chadi Riad to Real Betis and later to Crystal Palace was a win for Barcelona. Betis initially paid €3 million for 50% of Riad’s transfer last summer.

Most recently, Crystal Palace paid €15 million for the Moroccan defender, while Barcelona received €6 million from this deal, bringing the total amount from this transfer to €9 million.

The €18 million already earned could be further increased by the potential €12 million plus €4 million in variables that Rennes could pay for Mika Faye.

Although the transfer has not yet been officially confirmed, there is an agreement between Barcelona and Rennes and the deal is expected to be completed soon.

With just a week to go before the transfer window closes, Barça Athletic’s sales have proven crucial to Barcelona’s financial strategy this summer, with the club successfully generating more revenue from reserve team players than from first team players.
