WWE’s CM Punk has landed a role in an upcoming film written by Stavros Halkias, Wes Haney and Ben Kitnick.

The film is titled “Let’s Start A Cult” and Kitnick will also direct the comedy project.

Talking about the upcoming project in which Halkias plays the lead role, Kitnick revealed:

“The idea behind ‘Let’s Start a Cult’ was born out of a dark, comedic hypothesis: What if a cult member was such a social outcast that even his new adopted family was unsettled by his presence?

“The success of our production was itself a crucial hypothesis: could a film capture the elements of big-budget comedies of years past while also existing within the framework of a modern indie film? Let’s Start a Cult is our answer to both questions.”

Describing the film in more detail, Kitnick continued:

“It’s a wild, absurd comedy with heart, combining high-concepts with a broad comedic approach, and is both modern and old-fashioned at the same time.

“The film’s main characters are seekers who try to overcome life’s worries by adopting a new belief system together with like-minded outsiders.

“In retrospect, this is really symbolic of our experience making the film. It was a hugely collaborative process, with the cast and crew deadly serious about telling a wonderfully frivolous story.

“I hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed making this, dare I say, ‘cult comedy.'”

Below this new story is the poster for the film, which lists Punk as Phil Brooks. The cast also includes Eric Rahill from FX’s The Bear, Katy Fullan from Drop It, Larry! and Ethan Suplee from My Name Is Earl.

The film’s theatrical debut is scheduled for October 25, 2024.
