WEST PALM BEACH, FL — While the Florida primary ended about 48 hours ago, the Palm Beach County Election Commissioner’s Office is already focused on the next big event: the general election in November.

The office is hiring 5,000 employees to work the county’s 350 polling places in what some are calling the most important election in American history.

All positions are paid and the people who get the job receive the necessary training.

We found out about it via social media and asked those responsible why there are so many vacancies.

County Election Commissioner Wendy Sartory Link said this reflected the importance of the election.

Because this is such an important election with the presidential election and important constitutional changes, there is a lot at stake, she said.

“People want to participate and we want to give them that opportunity. If people question the integrity of the election, there is no better way to do that than to be there and participate,” she said.

She said 4,300 people worked in this week’s primary election.

They say the perfect candidate would be friendly, work well with others and want to learn more about the election process.
