How to quickly find and manage all the apps on your Pixel phone

Key findings

  • Android-based phones, including Google’s Pixel line, offer an “All Apps” section within the main Settings app.
  • This settings page allows you to quickly and easily manage all the apps installed on your device.
  • For everyday use, Android’s app drawer is sufficient, but a separate “All Apps” page is also useful in itself.

If you’ve used a Google Pixel phone before, you’re probably familiar with Android’s app drawer. This section of the operating system is the main gateway to every installed app on your phone. A simple swipe up from the home screen displays your apps in an alphabetical grid of icons, which is handy for everyday use.

Less used and appreciated is the All Apps section in the Pixel’s main Settings app. This page is particularly useful if you want to take inventory of all the apps installed on your phone – it provides quick access to various app-related features.

With that said, here’s how to navigate directly to the All Apps section of your Pixel phone, and we’ll look at the options you have access to from the page.

How to see all the apps on your Google Pixel phone

Google has simplified access directly through the Settings app.

Steps to access the All Apps page on Android

To access the All Apps section on your phone, follow these steps:

  1. Start the Settings app on your Pixel.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap Show all apps.

From here, you’ll be greeted with a scrollable list of all the apps currently installed on your phone. The list is sorted alphabetically and there’s a search button in the top right corner if you don’t want to scroll through the list.

If you tap the ellipsis menu (three dots), also located in the top right corner, you can select “Show system” to add low-level and hidden apps to your existing list. System apps mostly run in the background and for the most part you don’t need to worry about viewing or managing them.

All apps and app info pages on Android

Aside from the ability to view system apps, the All Apps section can be a real productivity boost. If you’ve ever tried to manage a large amount of installed apps using the regular app drawer, you’ll understand when I call it a bottleneck.

The All Apps settings panel lets you efficiently browse your apps and instantly access an app’s info page. An app’s info page lets you manage all aspects of that app – from notifications and permissions to storage and data usage, and more.

While it’s possible to access an app’s info page by long-pressing its icon in the app drawer, this involves an extra effort. If you have a large number of apps on your Pixel, the All Apps screen is an invaluable tool to have at your fingertips.
