Wisconsin Democrats energized after DNC and ready for hard work before November

CHICAGO, Ill. (WBAY) – Wisconsin delegates and virtually everyone else leave the United Center energized after hearing Vice President Kamala Harris accept her party’s nomination.

What lies ahead is a lot of hard work in a swing state whose outcome could go either way in November.

After a four-day convention in Chicago, Democrats in Wisconsin are now focusing on the next few months, capitalizing on the mood and excitement of seeing their favorite candidates, including Kamala Harris, in the national spotlight.

“What they need to take away from this convention is that there is a stark difference between the policies of Donald Trump and the policies of Kamala Harris. Look at Project 2025, look at the policies of Kamala Harris. You will see the difference between the two,” said Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez.

Harris made the message of working hard to win clear during a rally in Milwaukee on Tuesday evening during the week of the party’s convention.

“No, no, we haven’t won yet, there are still 77 days of work ahead of us, my friends,” Vice President Harris said in Milwaukee.

Democrats hope to win over young voters, especially with issues such as support for reproductive rights and affordable housing.

However, Senator Ron Johnson believes that Donald Trump can still win Wisconsin. Senator Johnson spoke to us in Chicago.

“Absolutely, if we focus on the issues. If the public understands the contrast with what President Trump has accomplished as president. We did much better under his presidency than we have in the last three and a half years. If the public really gets the truth out of the media, I think we can easily win this thing,” Senator Johnson said.

Nevertheless, Governor Tony Evers believes that the Democrats are the driving force.

“People are excited, they realize it’s going to be a close race in Wisconsin, a close race nationally, but people are ready to get to work and do the hard work,” said Governor Evers. “I mean, this is all fun, this is exciting, but at the end of the day, we have to get people to vote.”

There were also strict security measures in place on Thursday evening. A few hours before Harris took the stage, the event area was even closed off due to the arena being overcrowded.
