“AITA threatens to cancel my wedding” is a nightmare for bridesmaids

We all know that if you get engagedYou are not just marrying your partner – you are marrying your partner’s familyto. While most of us have in-laws that fall into the “eh” category, it’s better than what one bride-to-be experienced when she went on Reddit to perhaps find the most chaotic AITA everstarring (who else?) her fiancé’s overprotective sister.

When I say arrogant, I mean, imagine Plan your dream weddingonly to see her future sister-in-law show up at every singles meeting. From flowers to catering to even Her choice of clothes – she is there with her helpful suggestions. And as if that wasn’t enough, her brother – aka her future husband – is on her side through everything.

I am all for it Wedding dramabut this emotional disaster is one of the craziest things I’ve ever read. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

(Editor’s note: This story contains abuse and physical violence. Read own Discretion.)

The wedding controversy

The whole story is long, confusing and full of drama, so we have to tell it here in brief:

It all started when our bride-to-be started planning her dream wedding with the love of her life, Roy. Everything was going well until his sister Kim decided, She herself was the unofficial co-planner for the big day. And when I say co-planner, I mean that she was fully involved in the bride’s affairs – she showed up at every meeting, made “suggestions” and basically to take over the entire process as if it were their own Wedding.

At first, Kim (who decided to move closer to the couple after the engagement) started small, making suggestions like alternative flower arrangements and chair setups. Okay. Annoyingbut whatever. But then Kim made matters worse by rejecting the bride’s favorite dessert and her dream color scheme, and even interfering in the dress shopping. The real kicker? When the bride chose a beautiful green dress that she liked (her culture doesn’t adhere to white), Kim pounced on her and said, “Nah, green is not your color, baby,” and then chose the Exactly the same dress for yourself.

And of course, every time there was a disagreement, Roy would brush it off with, “It’s no big deal” or “Kim is just trying to help.” He even went so far as to tell the bride that Kim “looked better in green,” which, frankly, was just… no.

Finally, after enough sisterly interference and Roy’s constant rejection of her feelingsthe bride lost it. She told Roy that if the wedding did not take place as she both imagined it – not the way Kim prescribed – then it didn’t happen at all. fully good point, right? Except then Roy went into full gaslight mode, accusing her of being immature, selfish, and jealous of Kim. Classic.

The wedding controversy…Continued

While that sounds crappy, it’s not the most dramatic wedding story ever. That was until the author sent an update that will stay in my mind forever, rent-free. Here’s what happened:

While Shopping for your wedding dress (remember when Kim stole the bride’s look?), a fight broke out between the bridesmaids. Family And The of the groom Familywhich led to a heated argument. The police were calledAnd all were accompanied from the store. Cool, right?

Kim, the groom’s sister, went miss after the fight. Roy and his mother searched for her all night. Don’t worry, she was Only hide in a relative’s house. Meanwhile, the bride suffered a panic attack and was taken to the hospital, where she was unconscious for a whole day thanks to a sedative. She woke up in her parents’ house and thought, “What the hell just happened?”

Roy then had the courage Contact the bride to “clear up” the matter, but instead of apologizing, literally blamed her for everything, including Kim’s disappearance. The bride said, “WTF, man? You didn’t even know I was in the hospital and you’re still more worried about your sister?” Which led to this:

  • The bride confronted Roy and explained that she felt like the “side chick” in her relationship with Roy and Kim.
  • Roy *slapped* the bride during the argument, causing her nose and cheek to bleed.
  • The bride’s father jumped on Roy, which sparked a physical fight until neighbors and the police had to intervene.
  • Kim tried to attack the bride (apparently), but the bride’s sister (the heroine we didn’t know we needed) stepped in and slapped Kim back.
  • Both the bride and Roy were taken to the hospital. Roy had a knocked out tooth and a broken rib. Oops.
  • The wedding is officially cancelled.

Correct? Now let’s find out who the asshole is!

In defense of the groom

Lol. No. There is simply no defense for old Roy. From taking his sister’s side in every little wedding detail to directly slapping his fiancée, the groom gives us all the warning signs. Sure, maybe he has an unresolved issue with his sibling loyalty, but emotional incest is no excuse to act like a total asshole.

In defense of the bride

To be clear: Our bride here was Away more patient than most of us would have been in this absolute circus situation. She tried to be the cool fiancée and handled Kim’s constant interference like a pro (or, you know, as well as one could). The woman literally actually only wanted to plan her wedding and instead had to constantly defend herself against her future sister-in-law’s obsession with control.

It was not even only Kim is a nightmare; she own fiancé continued to stand on his sister’s side! So what the hell, Roy? You should be Team Bride, not Team “Let us let Kim take over the whole event.” And despite all the drama, the bride held on and believed she could save the relationship – which, let’s be honest, realshows how much Roy meant to her. The fact that they The fact that she finally hit the table and said, “If this wedding doesn’t happen the way I want it to, then it won’t happen at all,” is pure boss energy.

Oh, and don’t forget the emotional and physical trauma she suffered from Roy’s slap and the chaos that followed. She had every right to call off that wedding and to hell out of the danger zone.

The verdict

Not only was our bride not the asshole, but she deserves a damn medal (and a whole lot of SSRIs) for dealing with that shit. Standing up to toxic family dynamics and taking care of her mental health? That’s a success in our eyes. We hope Roy and his sister live happily ever after and our bride gets her dream wedding one daymaybe to someone who is an only child?
