Women’s football loses at Canisius

BUFFALO, NY – Host Canisius (1-0) scored three goals in the first 14 minutes of play to defeat the Binghamton women’s soccer team (1-1) 5-0 on Thursday afternoon at Demske Sports Complex.

Four days after building an early 3-0 lead with a season-opening win at GW, Binghamton got off to a slow start that cost them a win in the middle of three consecutive road games to start the 2024 season. It’s only the second time in nine meetings that Canisius has beaten the Bearcats, who entered the game with a 5-1-2 head-to-head advantage.

MAAC member Griffs got on the scoreboard after just 4:34 minutes and scored further goals in the ninth and 14th.th and thus earned a 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Canisius was awarded a penalty after just 2:33 minutes and converted the goal to increase the score to 4:0. The hosts scored the last goal in the 64th minute.th Minute.

The Bearcats were worse in shots on goal, 17:5.

Binghamton returns to Western New York on Sunday to face St. Bonaventure in Olean.
