When you’re looking for the next show to watch, you’re probably looking through the top 10 list of some of the best streaming services, including Apple TV Plus. Sure, that’s a good place to start, but let’s face it – the most popular shows aren’t always the best.
While some of the most watched shows are really good, others are a little more questionable. For example, Palm Royale and The Morning Show are not the best, but they seem to stay on the list for weeks (even a colleague said the former was one of their worst shows of the year).
So after diving into the library and giving both the hits and lesser-known titles a chance, I’ve found three shows that really stand out (and are worth the hype). Here’s what you should be watching now…
This is based on the top 10 shows on Apple TV Plus as of Thursday, August 22nd.
THE BEST SHOWS IN THE APPLE TV PLUS TOP 10
‘Evil Monkey’
Watch on
Apple TV Plus recently launched a new comedy-drama show with 92% on Rotten tomatoesand that’s “Bad Monkey.” The series follows Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn), a disgraced former detective turned health inspector in the Florida Keys, who becomes embroiled in a bizarre mystery after a tourist finds a severed human arm.
After taking custody of the missing body part and bringing it to Miami to be examined by medical examiner Rosa (Natalie Martinez), Yancy’s relaxed life in the Florida Keys is over and he begins investigating. As Yancy delves deeper into the case, he encounters a colorful cast of characters, including a voodoo witch, a money-hungry real estate developer and, of course, a mischievous monkey.

“Slow horses”
“Slow Horses” Season 4 hits the screens in just under two weeks, so it’s no surprise that people are rewatching the series for a refresher. If you’re not familiar with this British spy thriller, I can give you a quick overview of what it’s about (it’s also one of our Favorite shows on Apple TV Plus).
Slow Horses revolves around a group of British intelligence agents who have been relegated to a dead-end department called Slough House. These agents, known as “slow horses,” have all made career-damaging mistakes and are now confined to menial tasks far from MI5’s main operations. The series follows the team, led by the grizzled and sharp-tongued Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), as they inadvertently find themselves involved in dangerous missions despite their outsider status.

‘Sunny’
Watch on
The new drama on Apple TV Plus soon became one of my favorite shows of the year. “Sunny” revolves around the story of a woman named Suzie (Rashida Jones) who is struggling with the aftermath of the loss of her son and husband. To help her cope with her grief, Suzie is given a highly advanced robot named Sunny (voice: Joanna Sotomura). The robot is programmed to be an emotional companion that mimics human behavior and provides comfort.
As Suzie forms a bond with Sunny, she begins to grapple with her own unresolved feelings of loss and trauma. This AI is also designed to replicate her husband’s personality, and after their initial bond, it begins to provide clues to his disappearance. Of course, delving into such a complex investigation also carries risks.
