Police: Truck driver found dead hours after fatal accident near Kaysville

KAYSVILLE – A crash on the West Davis Corridor near 200 North in Kaysville left one driver dead and another hospitalized early Wednesday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

At around 1:30 a.m., a man driving a Chevy pickup truck north on the West Davis Corridor “went onto the right shoulder and into the gravel with the passenger-side tires” before oversteering and veering back across the road and into the median, according to a news release.

The truck began rolling before coming to a stop in two lanes of oncoming southbound traffic, troopers said. An oncoming Ford F-150 struck the Chevy, losing power but continuing to veer off the road and crashing through a fence 300 yards away.

According to UHP, there were no witnesses to the accident and because of the power outage in the Ford pickup, officers responding to the accident saw not only the Chevy but also the F-150.

The driver of the Chevy was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but no details about his condition were released.

A commuter saw the Ford at around 6:30 a.m. at dawn and called the police, who found the driver dead in the truck when they arrived, the press release said.

No further information was given about the two people involved in the accident. While the rescue services were working at the scene, another accident occurred between a car and a truck.
