Deliveries of General Motors Co.’s 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 are on their way to customers after a months-long delay, the automaker said Wednesday.
GM estimates that the reservation list for the $99,495 truck, which can travel 440 miles on a charge, is full. GMC has not disclosed reservation numbers. Edition 1, which originally cost more than $108,000, will be followed by a Denali trim in late 2024 and the AT4 and Elevation trims in the first half of 2025. When GMC unveiled the premium electric truck in 2022, the brand said the Elevation would start at about $50,000. On Wednesday, GM said pricing for that trim would be announced closer to launch.
The Sierra’s launch, scheduled for early 2024, has been delayed, but GM has been able to expand on some of the truck’s advantages: The estimated range of 440 miles is 40 more than original estimates, the towing capacity of 10,000 pounds is 500 more, and the payload capacity of 1,450 pounds is 150 more.
The Sierra is GMC’s third electric truck, following the Hummer EV pickup and SUV, making GMC “the only brand with three electric trucks,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president of Buick and GMC, in a statement. “The Sierra EV is the ‘Denali of electric vehicles’ and the best truck ever built. Period.”

Sierra EV features include: a 16.8-inch infotainment touchscreen – the largest ever installed in a Sierra; a MultiPro MidGate extendable cargo bed that allows the transport of items up to 11 feet long while still leaving room for a passenger in the back seat; and an eTrunk to increase cargo space.
Customers can access GM’s hands-free Super Cruise driver assistance technology with trailer capability.
The Sierra EV’s design includes premium materials such as open-pore wood with matching grain, dark aluminum accents and etched stainless steel speaker covers. A panoramic glass roof and 24-inch wheels complete the truck’s bold look.
The Sierra EV is manufactured along with the Chevrolet Silverado EV at GM’s Factory Zero EV plant in Detroit and Hamtramck.

Last October, GM CEO Mary Barra announced the automaker would delay the launch of the Sierra EV, Silverado EV RST and Equinox EV to give the company’s new software team time to work on “optimizing” GM’s vehicle software strategy.
GM has launched the Equinox EV and Silverado EV RST and begun deliveries to retail customers.
