Partick Thistle “disappointed” about the change of location

Partick Thistle said they were “disappointed” that Sunday’s game against Glasgow City had been moved to Kirkintilloch.

The game was originally scheduled to take place at Lochburn Park in Maryhill while work continues at Petershill Park, the home ground of both teams.

A statement from the club said: “This decision followed an appeal by the visiting team on Sunday and although the League had originally visited and inspected Lochburn Park and approved its use and an opening match against Hibernian went off without a hitch and no concerns were raised by either the referees or Partick Thistle on the day itself, the original approval has been revoked.”

“This decision also applies to all other home matches while improvement works are carried out at our home ground, Petershill Park, an issue which also affects Petershill tenants and Sunday’s away team, Glasgow City.

“As a club, we are incredibly disappointed by the decision, which will create enormous operational challenges and mean additional work for an already overstretched and hard-working team of volunteers at the club.”

“However, we are most disappointed for our loyal fans who will be forced to make a long journey to another stadium at extremely short notice, at a time when we are trying to increase attendances and match action in Scotland.”
