In Arapahoe County, a driver was arrested after colliding with a boy on an e-bike in Douglas County, injuring him and then fleeing the scene of the accident.
The driver – a 31-year-old woman whose identity remained unknown to sheriff’s officials – was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless driving causing personal injury, driving with an open container, driving with an expired license and failure to give information to police after an accident. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Douglas County Sheriff’s officers responded to a crash near Inverness Parkway and South Jamaica Street – just west of Park Meadows Mall in Douglas County – in which the driver struck a young man crossing the street on an e-bike and left the scene. The sheriff’s office said Wednesday morning.
With the help of traffic cameras in the area, officers were able to identify the suspect vehicle and trace it back to Arapahoe County, the sheriff’s office said.
After Arapahoe County Sheriff’s officers were notified that the suspect had entered their jurisdiction, they located the woman and detained her until Douglas County Sheriff’s officers arrived and took her into custody. Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.
Paramedics took the boy, who was injured in the accident, to the hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released, Douglas County officials said.
