Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, ending a two-decade relationship.

Lopez, 55, filed the paperwork in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, just as the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary, according to court documents obtained by CBS Los Angeles.

The couple were engaged in the early 2000s but called off the wedding shortly before the ceremony. Lopez later married singer Marc Anthony and was briefly engaged to former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez. Affleck, 52, married actress Jennifer Garner and the couple have three children together.

Lopez and Affleck’s romance was rekindled in 2021 and they married on July 16, 2022 in Las Vegas. They later had a formal wedding in Georgia on August 20, 2022 – Lopez’s filing on Tuesday came on the second anniversary of that ceremony.

Court documents show that Lopez has filed for divorce, but there is no mention of a prenuptial agreement.

In May, Lopez announced the cancellation her summer concert tour. At the time, she stated that she needed to spend time with her children and close family.

In a message she posted online that same month, Lopez wrote: “I am deeply saddened and devastated for disappointing you. Please know that I would not do this if I didn’t feel it was absolutely necessary.”

When contacted by CBS News, a spokesman for Lopez declined to comment.
