Dr. Russell Jones, president of Arkansas Tech University, is one of 53 individuals from across the state selected to participate in Leadership Arkansas Class XIX in 2024–25.
Jones was elected ATU’s 13th president on June 20 and took office on July 1. He previously served as dean of the ATU College of Business and Economic Development from 2020 to 2023 and as interim president of Arkansas Tech for the 2023-24 academic year.
Leadership Arkansas is a program of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce/Associated Industries of Arkansas designed to develop emerging and established business, political and civic leaders who have the desire and potential to create a better Arkansas.
Participants in Leadership Arkansas Class XIX participate in nine scheduled sessions designed to deepen their understanding of leadership, economic development, agriculture, education, tourism, government, job development and more.
The mission of Leadership Arkansas is to challenge, inform, inspire and engage current and future business and civic leaders to strengthen the economy and communities in the state of Arkansas.
Leadership Arkansas’ vision is to build a strong and vibrant state by educating community leaders to identify and capitalize on opportunities, motivating others to strengthen regions and communities, and encouraging the election and appointment of officials who understand the diverse aspects of leading Arkansas for growth.
Since its founding in 2005, Leadership Arkansas has trained and engaged nearly 1,000 alumni from nearly every county in Arkansas.
