I know how Marvel can fix its problematic Blade movie after Deadpool and Wolverine

Summary

  • Mahershala Ali’s film “Blade” has experienced numerous delays and changes in the five years since its announcement.
  • Thanks to the multiverse, the MCU could potentially modify the Blade movie to create a team-up with Wesley Snipes’ Blade.
  • As a plan B, Marvel could save the Blade movie for Phase 7, which would potentially result in a recast due to Ali’s age.

Five years have passed since Mahershala Ali’s appointment as bladeand subsequently Deadpool and WolverineThe Marvel Cinematic Universe gets a new opportunity to see how the film’s problems could be fixed. I think Ali is the perfect choice for Bladebut the actor is already 50, and since the film was announced, blade has changed directors, writers, and even actors. Ali isn’t getting any younger, and I don’t think we’ve seen any concrete sign that the MCU’s Blade reboot is finally on the right track after years of struggles.

At least when Marvel Studios recently changed some film dates, blade remained in its current slot in November 2025. This gives me hope that the film will meet the deadline; however, I can’t help but believe that Marvel will later announce that blade is moving again. With many problems to get the story of the film right, I think Marvel can blade‘s star cast in a different way. There are a few ways Marvel could take to revamp the film and bring back Mahershala Ali’s blade a hit, and Deadpool and Wolverine offers a great solution to the problems of the film.

Although there were delays and crew changes during the film’s production, it is still very likely that the MCU’s Blade reboot will continue.

I would love to see a Blade team-up movie with Mahershala Ali and Wesley Snipes

Marvel could use the multiverse as long as it exists

Wesley Snipes, the original film actor of Blade, returned as his version of the character in Deadpool and Wolverine. Snipes looked great in the role and didn’t let up as Blade. The film showed that he can still deliver the same classic R-rated action and snappy dialogue that Blade became known for. After such an exciting performance, I want to see more of Snipes’ Blade, and I think the MCU could take advantage of the Multiverse Saga and strike the iron while it’s hot by retooling Mahershala Ali’s Blade film to be a team-up with Snipes.

Before Deadpool and WolverineFans have already compared Snipes to Ali without a single minute of footage of the MCU actor in the role. After the film Snipes’ performance led some to believe he should get a new movie, with Ali’s blade cancelled. I don’t agree with the latter, but I think a Snipes Blade movie could be what the MCU needs and serve as a formal passing of the baton from Snipes to Ali. The MCU’s Blade will be R-rated, so it could be the Logan-like Blade movie that Ryan Reynolds suggested for Snipes that I would love to see.

Marvel could turn Blade into the MCU team-up film I’ve been most eagerly awaiting: Midnight Sons

The MCU is slowly moving towards the Supernatural team

Another way Marvel could revamp the Blade movie if Snipes doesn’t return is to turn it into a true team-up movie. There have been rumors that a Midnight Sons project is coming soon, and I certainly believe them, as Marvel has been slowly introducing characters for the team. I love the Midnight Sons – and the excellent Midnight Suns game – and I’m excited to see Marvel delve deeper into the MCU’s supernatural characters and see what they have to offer. Mahershala Ali’s film “Blade” could be redesigned so that Blade becomes the leader of the Midnight Sons.

The film could focus on how Blade assembles the team, which could bring back some fan favorites and put the film and Blade in the spotlight right away. Important MCU characters like Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch could become important members of the Midnight SonsOscar Isaac’s Moon Knight is another strong candidate for the team, with Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman becoming the Black Knight in the film. Werewolf at night The special presentation also featured several possible members of the Midnight Sons. With Marvel’s renewed focus on franchises after recent problems, blade It would make sense to transform into Midnight Sons.

As a last resort, I think Marvel could save the Blade movie for Phase 7

However, this could create a key problem

As the MCU launches its Avengers films next year – production at least Avengers: Endgame begins in 2025 – the timing may not be ideal for Ali’s blade Restart. I think that after five years full of problems and with blade currently without directorthe film could be taken off the release schedule and undergo a complete creative overhaul to prepare it for a Phase 7 release after Avengers: Secret Wars. Ali’s Blade could appear earlier and debut in Avengers: Endgame and played a role in several films before his film “Blade”.

That said, I find blade A delay to Phase 7 could potentially mean that a rewrite is necessaryRumour has it that the MCU will undergo a soft reboot after Avengers: Secret Wars. Ali would then be at least 53 years old and the actor could be too old to play Blade for a decade. While I would love to do at least a trilogy with Ali as Blade, I understand that the film’s many delays could make that impossible, and if recasting could result in Marvel Studios blade finally happens, then I would be totally for it.

Blade (2025)

Marvel Studios’ Blade brings the legendary vampire hunter back more than two decades after Wesley Snipes first portrayed the character in a live-action film. Starring Mahershala Ali as Eric Brooks, the Blade reboot officially introduces vampires to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Eternals’ second post-credits scene hinted at the daywalker’s MCU debut. Ali will be joined by Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre in Yann Demange’s gritty 2024 superhero film.
