Local business owner devastated after stolen food truck found empty

SAN ANTONIO – A local business is in trouble after thousands of dollars worth of equipment was found in its stolen food truck.

Early Tuesday morning, the manager of Cheesy Janes arrived at the location on the corner of Broadway and East Hilderbrand to find that the food truck was not there.

After confirming that the truck was not away for maintenance or an event, the 20-foot yellow kitchen on wheels was reported stolen.

The truck was discovered later that morning near a south side apartment complex at the corner of East Chaveneaux Road and Marshall Way.

When the owner and manager found the truck, they were horrified to discover that all of the top-of-the-line equipment had been removed.

“But they took the range hood,” said Tirso Sigg, owner of Cheesy Janes. “They took our flat top grills. They took the refrigerators, our water system, the three-compartment sink, our air conditioning. Basically, they took everything to scrap.”

The truck, which they used for numerous community events, generated at least a third of the local restaurant’s sales.

For now, the local hero has to limit his reach.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call San Antonio Police at (210) 207-7273.
