Greenville Tech’s new facility offers medical students hands-on training with cutting-edge technology

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – Greenville Technical College is preparing its medical students for real-world careers by providing them with hands-on classroom experience, made possible by the newest facility on the Barton Campus.

At the heart of this innovative learning experience is the Prisma Health Center, where health and life sciences students have access to advanced tools such as anatomy tables that digitize real human cadavers for study purposes.

“Our anatomy tables feature five real people who have donated their bodies to science,” explained a Greenville Tech instructor. “These bodies have been digitized and placed on these tables so we can use them in our education.”

Dr. Jonathan Gleason of Prisma Health emphasized the realistic environment this technology creates. “Students will have an incredible experience here. The building is equipped with incredible technology that matches the technology used in real doctor’s offices and hospitals. Our team members are involved in their training and make sure they are well prepared for the healthcare industry.”

Greenville Tech offers a wide range of medical degrees, including nursing, radiology, occupational therapy and physical therapy assistant programs.

Dr. Gleason emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating that Prisma Health is committed to recruiting the best graduates to ensure a strong healthcare workforce in South Carolina. As Greenville Tech continues to expand its offerings and provide world-class training,

The health sector continues to be the state’s largest employer, reinforcing the important link between education and employment in the state’s health industry.
