Now OnePlus is lowering the price of the Open foldable phone to its lowest price yet of just $1,399 (normally $1,699), making it much more affordable than the Galaxy, which starts at $1,800 and costs over $2,000 for the 1TB version. Plus, OnePlus is sweetening the summer discounts with some back-to-school deals that we give top marks for. Here’s how to save the most and take advantage of those smart savings.

Two ways to save

Thanks to a first-class offer, everyone can now enjoy the OnePlus Open with an instant $300 discount, bringing the foldable phone down to $1,399. If you want to save even more, you can trade in any phone in any condition and get an additional $100 off. Students can also save an additional 10%, but anyone who buys a OnePlus Open smartphone can opt to get a pair of Buds 2 Pro earbuds or a Keyboard 81 Pro – completely free. That’s either a $180 value or $219 free, on top of the $300 instant savings and another $100 off if you have an old phone to trade in.

But this deal gets even better if you’re a new customer and currently own a Samsung Z Fold 4 or 5, Galaxy S24 Ultra or Pixel Fold device that you want to get rid of. Right now, you can Trade it in and get up to $800 extra offwhich brings the Open down to just $599. Plus, you’ll still be eligible for a pair of Buds Pro 2 earbuds or the Keyboard 81 Pro with your purchase. Just select “Trade-in eligible device” instead of “Trade-in any device in any condition.”

If you’re looking for a new take on the foldable form factor and aren’t happy with Google or Samsung’s devices, now couldn’t be a better time for the Open, which has taken the lead as a superior foldable device that’s a smartphone and mini-tablet in one, according to ZDNET’s Matt Miller.

The Open also has a better battery capacity compared to its competitors. It has a 4,400mAh capacity that should easily last you all day. Additionally, the fast charging feature allows the device to go from zero to full charge in just about 45 minutes, which is pretty fast for any smartphone, let alone one with a foldable display.
