Neon takes over “Hell Of A Summer Movie”

Neon has acquired the US rights to Hell Summerthe horror comedy by Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Billy Bryk (When you’re done saving the world) in her feature film debut at 30West. A release date has not yet been announced.

With Wolfhard, Bryk and Fred Hechinger (Gladiators 2), fully financed and executive produced by 30West, follows 24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg (Hechinger), who arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is that he’s lost touch with his teenage peers. What he doesn’t know is that a masked killer is lurking around the campground, brutally killing the counselors one by one.

Hell Summer was produced by Hechinger, Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman of Aggregate Films, Drew Brennan and Jay Van Hoy of Parts & Labor. In her review of the film at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, where it had its world premiere, Deadline’s Valerie Complex wrote, “With a stellar cast and two up-and-coming directors showing tremendous potential, this is a flick that is sure to leave audiences with a smile on their faces and a knife in their backs.”

He recently celebrated his greatest success to date with the horror film “Maika Monroe – Nicolas Cage”. Long-leggedwhich has now surpassed the $100 million mark worldwide, Neon has also recently strengthened its reputation in the genre with the release of the film starring Hunter Schafer cuckoo and Black Bear’s Immaculate starring Sydney Sweeney. The company is already back in business with Perkins, C2 and Black Bear on The monkeya sensational adaptation of Stephen King’s short story starring Theo James, which will be released on February 21, 2025. In addition, Neon will release Perkins’ upcoming feature film goalkeeperstarring Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland, and will work with Monroe again in You followthe highly anticipated sequel to David Robert Mitchell’s modern horror classic It follows.

Neon will premiere Joshua Oppenheimer’s musical at this year’s Toronto Film Festival The endstarring Tilda Swinton, which the company also produced. It will also see its Palme d’Or winner Anora by filmmaker Sean Baker will be shown in its Canadian premiere.

Jason Wald negotiated the deal for Hell Summer on behalf of Neon, with 30West and CAA Media Finance representing the filmmakers.
