Leeds United Podcast: Analysis of the impact of summer departures

In the latest episode of BBC Radio Leeds’ Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet podcast, Jonny Buchan, Adam Pope and Simon Rix discussed Saturday’s draw with West Bromwich Albion and the impact that the departure of key players from the club this summer will have.

Buchan said: “I think Archie (Gray) has been there all the time this summer – we could see that from his body language in the last home game of the season and his reaction at Wembley.

“(Crysencio) Summerville was going to go from the start, Georgi (Rutter) is rubbing salt in the wound by leaving but of all the players Leeds can sell and get the most money for, he is one of those.

“My thoughts over the next few days are what impact this will have on the rest of the team – what does Wilfried Gnonto think now? What does Illan Meslier think now?

“I feel sorry for Jayden Bogle, I feel sorry for Joe Rodon, who came to the club with the intention of breaking into the top two and it could well still be a break into the top two but now they’re seeing star players leaving the club.

“When you get down to it, Leeds have lost one of the greatest talents of a generation they have ever had. They lost the best player in the league last season and now the player that everyone loves to watch the most.

“It’s a pretty bad situation for fans to have to deal with.”
