Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is working on a new Netflix film – an adaptation of her own World War II novel
Millie Bobby Brown is working on a new Netflix film – an adaptation of her own World War II novel.
Nineteen Steps, which Brown co-wrote with Kathleen McGurl, follows the life of 18-year-old Nellie, a London girl at the height of the Blitz. The book, which became a best-seller, also deals with the Bethnal Green tube disaster, in which 173 people died.
According to Deadline, Brown may also star in “Nineteen Steps,” which is being written by Anthony McCarten, the writer of “Darkest Hour.” The director and release date have not yet been announced.
The trade also reports that Brown’s next major release, The Electric State, will hit Netflix in March 2025.
The science fiction film, which also stars Chris Pratt and was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Doomsday), is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Simon Stålenhag and shows Brown, a girl who accompanies a robot through a post-apocalyptic landscape in search of her brother.
The actor’s last release, Damsel, proved to be a huge hit on the streamer. The fantasy film spent six weeks in the Netflix Top 10 and reached 50 million weekly views at its peak.
Brown will, of course, play Eleven once again in Stranger Things season 5 – which is currently filming. A recent update from the set confirmed that production is over halfway complete, but at the time of writing, there’s no word on a release date.
