Don and Judy Wilson celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Submitted to The Chronicle

Don Wilson met Judy Rockhold in the summer of 1957 at Mckee’s Beach in Snohomish County. They married on August 21, 1964.

Don is a graduate of Universality of Washington and Judy of Central Washington State

College, as it was called back then.

Judy began her teaching career as a fourth grade teacher in the Lake Washington School District and moved to the Seattle School District two years later. Don began teaching in Seattle.

In 1969, their first son, Andrew, was born, and in 1970, Don took a job as a counselor at Centralia High School. Judy was a stay-at-home mom for a year and then took a job as a teacher at Evaline School.

In 1975, they moved to the Centralia area and their second son, Alan, was born. After another two years at home, Judy took a job at Jefferson Lincoln Elementary School and later transferred to Washington Elementary School, where she taught fourth grade for many years.

In 2001, both retired after a total of 70 years of professional work in the education sector.

In retirement, both volunteered for several years with Meals on Wheels. Judy began her volunteer work with the Greater Chehalis Food Bank and served as secretary on that organization’s board for many years. Don tutored at Centralia College and served three terms on the board of Cascade Mental Health, as the organization was then called.

Both have been very active in Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as deacons and elders, and Judy is the session secretary there.

They are also frequently seen at square and round dances from Olympia to Longview. The Wilsons have one grandchild, Victor Wilson of Centralia.
