We still can’t hear Kylie Minogue’s “Padam Padam” without thinking of Nymphia Wind, who is up for the crown of the 16th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race with one of the most epic performances we’ve seen on the show.
Since then, Nymphia has caused major banana fever around the world, but a viral video of her ignoring her fan and looking at her phone instead has people thinking that the queen may not be as deserving of the title as we thought.
For her part, Nymphia took the backlash in stride and even posted a series of tweets on the subject, promising Mexico that she would be there and not be on her phone, and posted a video of herself in Dallas ignoring the empty room and picking up her phone instead.
Nymphia also directly responded to the backlash alongside some of the videos in question, stating, “I just wanted to say that my first reaction when I reposted the video was not to apologize, but because I sat through the entire hour and 30 minutes of that meet and greet and what you guys are seeing is a 7 second video. I understand it’s very rude, but that wasn’t the entire meet and greet and I know I wasn’t actively rude to anyone. So no, I’m not officially apologizing to everyone, just the person who was in that video.”
She ended the post by saying that she found it “funny and a BRAT summer” and that she was simply “living her BRAT summer,” something Vice President Kamala Harris herself knows all too well.
Nymphia also added that during meet-and-greets, there was usually a lot more time between people and that she had used that time to respond to some work messages before realizing the fan was there.
Still, the reactions to Nymphia’s ignorance from her fellow drag queens and fans were iconic, hilarious and honest, even if some queens deleted their original responses after Nymphia addressed the situation. Keep scrolling to see some of the best.
