Arizona man killed in head-on collision near Cody

Craig Johnson, 77, is dead after a fatal head-on collision near Cody at 1:55 a.m. on August 17

The Wyoming Highway Patrol lists Johnson as a resident of Arizona.

According to a preliminary accident description from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a Dodge Ram was traveling southeast on WY 120 when the vehicle crossed the centerline, resulting in an offset head-on collision with a Mazda CX-5. The Dodge came to rest in the roadway while the Mazda stumbled and rolled over one and a half times.

The summary notes that another person was injured in the crash, but does not specify to what extent. WHP cites driver fatigue as a possible contributing factor. Johnson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Road conditions were dry and the weather was clear.

He is the 61st person to die on Wyoming’s highways so far this year, compared to 94 people during the same period last year.
