New Tottenham star’s debut against Leicester City blocked due to work permit issue

Tottenham starts the 2024/25 Premier League season tonight at Leicester City.

Ange Postecoglu is confident he can deliver a trophy to long-suffering Spurs fans in the coming months after the club failed to win a title for 16 years.

The Australian has been busy in the summer transfer window as he looks to improve his UEFA Europa League options this season following Dominic Solanke’s £55 million ($71 million) arrival from Bournemouth.

Solanke is just one of the new faces in Postecoglu’s ranks, with highly-rated defensive midfielder Archie Gray joining from Leeds United and Wilson Odobert joining from relegated Burnley for a reported £25 million ($32.5 million).

Despite the confidence he gained from numerous debuts against the Foxes, Odobert’s Spurs debut was postponed due to an issue with his work permit.

The French U23 international has yet to receive his complete documentation from the Premier League in order to be included in Postecoglu’s matchday schedule.

According to the latest update from London Evening Standard correspondent Dan Kilpatrick, Odobert’s clearance was not processed in time and his debut could be delayed until the home game against Everton on August 24.

Yves Bissouma is missing due to a club suspension, but Solanke is ready to make his debut in front of the expectant Spurs fans.
