Another day of near-record heat is forecast for tomorrow

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – Good evening, Texoma! Tomorrow is looking like another very hot day in Texoma as we start a new week! Morning temperatures will be around 24 degrees at sunrise and we’ll climb well above 38 degrees in the afternoon hours. The high is forecast to be 42 degrees, which would put us just one degree away from the record high of 43 degrees on August 19th (which was set just last year). Whether or not we hit the record, prepare for another dangerously hot afternoon and avoid spending time outside if possible.

The good news is that a weak cold front will move in late tomorrow night, bringing some relief to the region. It will still be hot on Tuesday and beyond, but temperatures will fall off record highs and climb back up to just above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon.

There is not much rain forecast for this week. Next weekend there is a slight chance of rain (about 10% both days), but minimal impact is expected.

The extended forecast brings good news if triple-digit temperatures aren’t your thing. There are signs that temperatures could finally drop below triple digits in the last week of August. Of course, we have to take this with a grain of salt as forecasts beyond 7 days aren’t the most accurate, so we’ll keep you updated as we get more data in the coming days.

I wish you a nice Monday!
