Things are a little different in places like South Dakota than in Los Angeles or Philadelphia. Normally we wouldn’t recommend confronting people who steal your car, but a man in Sioux Falls didn’t just do that, he beat up the thieves who took his truck.
This fleeing motorcyclist should have dressed appropriately for the accident.
It was on July 8th that the unnamed victim left his pickup truck running with the engine running to warm up around 4:45 p.m. when it was stolen. We’re assuming it wasn’t exactly a new truck, but some thieves just can’t pass up something that’s so easy to steal.
According to Sioux Falls police, the victim called and reported the theft, but around 6 p.m. he spotted his pickup truck at a convenience store. He went there and saw three men sitting inside.
The guys must have seen the victim and got scared. They put the truck in reverse and almost ran over the owner. He jumped into the truck bed to avoid getting hurt or worse.
Things got worse from there, as the driver sped off at high speed and swerved sharply to throw the victim out of the load. But this guy was not to be trifled with. The owner eventually smashed the rear window and reached in to turn off the engine. As he did so, the thieves, who were outnumbered, repeatedly hit him.
But the owner was able to park the car and take the keys back. Then a full-blown fight broke out between three and one. The owner, probably beside himself with rage, took a man to the hospital with serious head injuries. He was apparently the driver, say the police.
The other two crooks got away, at least for now. But we wonder if they’ll think twice before stealing another man’s truck. After all, it sounds like they got a good beating for all their trouble.
