Who impressed in the second week of preseason?

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a late collapse in their home debut of the 2024 preseason on Saturday, losing 24-23 to the Detroit Lions.

The end result was again not ideal from an execution perspective, but as usual, preseason record doesn’t matter as the focus is on roster development. Several players stood out with solid performances as the team prepared for its final preseason game this Thursday at Arrowhead Stadium.

Here’s a look at how some players’ stocks have evolved after the second week of the preseason at Arrowhead Stadium:

Add: Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes wowed fans with his behind-the-back pass to Travis Kelce early in the first quarter and was efficient on both of his tackles, finishing 8-14 for 93 yards in limited time.

Worthy demonstrated his unique speed in front of his home crowd, catching three passes for 62 yards and a touchdown and rushing the ball once for 11 yards.

Restock: Deneric Prince

Prince was the most consistent running back on Saturday, completing seven runs for 47 yards, including a long run for 41 yards.

Share price falls: Ian Book

Vasha Hunt-USA TODAY Sports

A late-game fumble on the Chiefs’ side of the field nearly ended the fourth-string quarterback’s day. The limited playing time he receives in games is due to the stellar performances of the players ahead of him, and Saturday’s performance didn’t help.

Share price fell: Kadarius Toney

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Toney was penalized twice on the first snap against the Lions and finished the game with a catch that gave him negative yardage. Such a poor preseason performance points to a possible departure from Kansas City.
