Women’s Scottish Open: Charley Hull’s challenge fades as Lauren Coughlin wins at Dundonald Links | Golf News

Lauren Coughlin raced to victory on the final day of the Women’s Scottish Open, securing her second LPGA title of the summer and a spot on the USA’s Solheim Cup team next month.

Coughlin shot 69 in her final round, three under par, to win the title by 15 strokes and finish four strokes ahead of German Esther Henseleit in second place.

England’s Charley Hull, who Coughlin will face in the Solheim Cup, was three shots behind the leader overnight but her challenge faded after bogeying two of her first three holes. She finished her week with a one-over-par 73 to finish fifth, seven shots back.

Coughlin also made two bogeys early on, but recovered well to overtake Megan Khang on the front nine holes and then Henseleit on the back nine at Dundonald Links.

Khang was tied with Coughlin after five holes, but failed to make another birdie for the rest of her round and finished with a two-over-par 74, which put her in a tie for third place with Ayaka Furue of Japan (68).

Coughlin, who won the Canadian Open three weeks ago, needed only one putt for the last seven holes to secure her second LPGA victory in impressive fashion.
