New Delhi: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday said that his colleagues often ask him why he is still working today, a question to which he has no answer other than that it is just another job opportunity.

The 81-year-old, who is currently hosting the 16th season of the popular game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, said that since people have the freedom to draw their own conclusions about his professional life, he also has the freedom to continue working.

In a post on his personal blog, Bachchan wrote: “…on the set, they keep asking me why I am working and I have no answer except that it is another work opportunity for me, what else could be the reason…”

“Others have their own assessment of opportunities and conditions and often want to try their model to prove themselves first-rate. Put yourself in my shoes and find out. Maybe you are right, maybe you are not. You have the freedom to draw your conclusions and I have the freedom of my work. (sic)” The cinema veteran said that while his mind is “locked up, barricaded and locked” somewhere, he encouraged people to rather get to work and find out why he is engaging in the work.

“…and the ‘impotence of content’ forces you to build your own sandcastles and enjoy the process of making them. Over time, sandcastles crumble. May you who build them find some measure of permanence. If it was built for you and your business, mine is finished and standing still – I WORK… PERIOD… do you have a problem with that? All right… get to work and figure it out… (sic),” he said.

Bachchan was last seen in the blockbuster ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. He will next be seen in the Rajinikanth starrer ‘Vettaiyan’.
