The Indianapolis Colts host the Arizona Cardinals tonight for the second game of the NFL preseason.

Unlike the first preseason game, in which quarterback Anthony Richardson was on the field, the Colts’ regular players are not expected to play against the Cardinals. Backup quarterback Joe Flacco will also sit out against Arizona.

The Colts and Cardinals held joint practices last week, so the regular players got plenty of playing time.

Nate Atkins and Joel A. Erickson will provide analysis throughout, and we’ll report on scores, highlights and more. Please remember to update.

Cardinals kicker Matt Prater made a 40-yard field goal to put Arizona on the scoreboard, capping a 10-play, 23-yard drive.

JuJu Brents suffered a nose injury and is out of the game.

At the end of the quarter, Sam Ehlinger completed a 5-yard pass to Anthony Gould, who dropped the ball. Arizona took over.

Rigoberto Sanchez at the Cardinals game, and for probably the best reason.

Sanchez and his wife Cynthia were in the hospital after Cynthia gave birth to a baby girl.

Isaiah Land, a Colts defensive end, sacked Arizona quarterback Clayton Tune on 3rd and 6, forcing a punt.

On their second series, the Colts moved the ball well down the field, starting with a 22-yard pass from Ehlinger to Juwann Winfree. Tyler Goodson capped the drive with an 8-yard touchdown. Goodson also scored last week.

Colts 7, Cardinals 0

The Colts defense forced the Cardinals to a three-point outing in Arizona’s first series.

Sam Ehlinger is starting quarterback for Indianapolis. Last week against the Denver Broncos, Ehlinger was 5 of 6 passing for 80 yards and an interception. In the second game of the series, Ehlinger was sacked. He ran for 11 yards on third-and-12, but the Colts were forced to punt.

Spencer Shrader will be the punter for the Colts tonight.

The Colts’ regular players played in the first preseason game against the Denver Broncos, but that will not be the case against the Cardinals. Head coach Shane Steichen said Indianapolis will not use his regular players against Arizona.

“I will not let the regular players play,” said Steichen. “They have done most of the work in the last two days. The twos and threes will go.”
