The new technology of the Infiniti QX55 (2024) impresses

The 2024 Infiniti QX55 is a crossover coupe SUV with plenty of personality and starts at just over $50,000.

The QX55 features the same 268-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo engine found in the QX50, and comes standard with all-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission, providing a seamless, high-performance driving experience.

The Infiniti’s drive mode selector lets you choose between Standard, Eco, Sport and Personal drive modes to further customize the car’s responses and performance. Thanks to this advanced powertrain, the QX55 achieves fuel economy of 22 miles per gallon in the city, 28 miles per gallon on the highway and 25 miles per gallon combined.

That’s great engine power for an SUV that feels very luxurious. Sometimes you get a big engine and nice amenities, but the vehicle is on low gas mileage. It’s refreshing to get great gas mileage out of a great luxury car.

Let’s start with the interior. The Infiniti QX55 features a new design for the gearshift and center console.

The interior features leather seats and dark aluminum trim as standard. The cabin features open-pore black natural maple wood accents, LED ambient lighting, semi-aniline leather seats and metallic cargo area sill plates.

Further enhancing the QX55’s appeal is the convenient connectivity of the standard Infiniti InTouch6 infotainment system, which features an 8-inch screen on top and a 7-inch screen on the bottom, as well as Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.

I like all the safety technology in the car, including the Pro Pilot assist that keeps you in the middle of your lane while driving. This is important because I don’t text while driving, but I know many others do. I see this every day and want to make sure I’m safe on the road, even when others aren’t.

On the front of the QX55 is a large grille with a large Infiniti logo, proving that branding is as important as anything else. Car manufacturers have moved on from logos to names, which doesn’t make as much sense to me. Infiniti wants to convey luxury through and through, and I think the large logo adds to the QX55’s appeal.

Infiniti’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive comes standard on every QX55, providing additional safety and constantly adjusting torque delivery to prioritize efficiency or traction as needed. When a skid is detected, the system can send up to 50 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels.

The QX55 stands out both when moving and when stationary with its profile, whose roofline gently curves towards the rear in a dramatic line. Its distinctive double-curved grille flanked by LED headlights, minimalist rear end and wide, powerful stance give the QX55 an undeniable road presence. 20-inch wheels are standard on all trim levels, further enhancing the vehicle’s visual impact.

Six exterior colors complement the QX55’s body lines: Hermosa Blue, Graphite Shadow, Slate Gray, Black Obsidian, Dynamic Sunstone Red and Brilliant White. So have fun with it.

All in all, the 2024 Infiniti QX55 is a great car that will give you a lot of fun on the road. I know I did. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
