What’s going on with those mysterious construction walls near Pirates of the Caribbean and why are they getting bigger?
We receive many Announcements from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and (unfortunately) many of them will become reality a few years later.
We can’t wait for Villains Land to come to Magic Kingdom, and while we’re still a little skeptical about how the new Cars Land will fit into Frontierland, we’re excited about it nonetheless. Construction has already begun on one area in the Magic Kingdom, and it has now been EXPANDED!
It was also announced at D23 that a new Pirate Tavern is coming to Adventureland, right next to the existing Pirates of the Caribbean ride!
Although we don’t have much information about this new restaurant yet, we now know that it is scheduled to open in 2025. In June, the Tortuga Tavern, the restaurant across from the attraction that was rarely open, closed. Then in July, that location was converted into a new shop called Tortuga Treasures.
At the same time, Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the store where you leave Pirates of the Caribbean, was closed and is currently being remodeled.. And now? This construction has MASSIVELY expanded!
You can now Check out the construction walls throughout the first part of the Pirates of the Caribbean queue before you officially go in. It is obvious that this is most likely where the new Pirates Tavern will be, and Tortuga Treasures may remain the main location for goods from now on.
We are still waiting for official confirmation from Disney, but for now, we’re excited to see how construction progresses in this area of the park (and are very happy that it doesn’t currently look like Pirates of the Caribbean will have to close at any point).
