The Hundred Eliminator 2024: London Spirit beat Oval Invincibles to reach first final

Georgia Redmayne underlined an excellent performance from her bowlers as London Spirit comfortably defeated city rivals Oval Invincibles to reach the final of The Hundred.

The Australian left-hander scored an unbeaten 53 from 47 balls as Spirit, who were 114 to win, claimed an eight-wicket, nine-ball victory in the Eliminator at The Oval.

The Invincibles dropped Redmayne on 19 – one of four drops in the innings – and the Spirit opener made them pay for it with a well-timed half-century in an unbroken stand of 74 with captain Heather Knight finishing with 36 not out from 23 balls.

Spirit was also not without mistakes on the field, as Alice Capsey, who scored the best point for the Invincibles with 30 points, was knocked down twice by Danielle Gibson.

But Knight’s team bowled superbly: English spinners Charlie Dean and Sarah Glenn scored 3-24 and 2-15 respectively, while seamer Eva Gray shone with 2-13.

Gibson also took two wickets and a brilliant catch to dismiss the dangerous Laura Harris as the Invincibles slackened towards the end of their innings, losing five wickets in the last 14 balls.

Former Australian captain Meg Lanning helped the Spirit’s chase get off to a strong start alongside Redmayne before the innings briefly stalled after her departure.

But Redmayne and Knight got them back on track, ending the Invincibles’ bid for their third title in four years and securing Spirit a place in the showpiece for the first time.
