Car accidents in Michigan

Burton, MI – Car accident on S Center Rd near Lapeer RdBurton, MI – Car accident on S Center Rd near Lapeer RdA car accident can change your life dramatically. Every year, many people in Michigan are injured or even killed in car accidents. These accidents are one of the leading causes of injuries and deaths in the state. If you have been injured in a car accident, you have the right to file a lawsuit for damages against the person responsible for the accident.

Michigan uses a legal principle called “comparative fault” for personal injury claims. This means that if you seek compensation for injuries from a car accident, you must prove that the other driver was at least partially responsible for the accident. The amount of compensation you can receive depends on how much fault you are in the accident.

If you are found to be more than 50% responsible for the accident, you cannot claim non-economic damages. These damages include pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life. However, you can still claim economic damages even if you are less than 50% responsible. Economic damages include costs such as lost wages and medical bills that result from the accident.

To receive the highest compensation, you must prove that the other driver was negligent. That’s why it’s important to work with a Burton car accident lawyer who can help you gather compelling evidence for your case.
