Marybelle Pake Obituary 2024 – Geib Funeral Homes

Marybelle Pake, age 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 16, 2024, after a period of declining health.

She was born on February 1, 1929, in Dover, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel (Pongrat) Carruthers.

Marybelle graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1947. After graduating, she worked at what was then Joy Manufacturing, Ohio Industrial Supply, and Tuscarawas Savings and Loan.

She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers. Marybelle also enjoyed watching old movies on TNT and listening to swing music from the 40’s and 50’s. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the Gaither’s and Statler Brothers. But her greatest joy in life was being a loving mother, grandmother and caregiver to her beloved husband Sam, who passed away on November 2, 2015. Marybelle and Sam enjoyed 67 years of marriage.

Marybelle’s faith was nurtured at Faith Christian Church in New Philadelphia. When she was able, Marybelle served as a deacon and was often involved in some area of ​​the church.

She is survived by her son Samuel A. (Lisa) Pake of Dover; her grandchildren Samuel L. (Amanda) Pake, Stacey N. Pake and Scott J. (Kasadie) Pake; her great-grandchildren Lincoln Michael Pake, Charlotte Grace Pake, Vivian Jane Pake, Crew Thomas Pake and Ella Elise Pake; her brother Thomas (Janice) Carruthers; her best friend Jo West; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, her husband and her grandson Steven Michael Pake predeceased her.

The family will greet guests on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory in New Philadelphia. Pastor Brian Flood will lead a service in Marybelle’s honor beginning at 2:00 p.m. Urn interment will follow the service at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Friends are also invited to Faith Christian Church where her church family will host a reception in Marybelle’s honor.
