How much does Georgia Tech football plan to pay its 5-star players?

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets recently signed five-star offensive tackle recruit Josh Petty. In fact, Petty is a milestone signing for the Georgia Tech program. He could become the second five-star recruit in school history (according to 247Sports).

“Tech was very easy going. Tech was very cooperative and efficient at work. I needed that number to be fair. Tech went above and beyond and really took care of me,” Petty said in a recent interview with the AJC.

The 6’5″, 260-pound offensive tackle is the 14th best player in the country. Petty is the fourth best recruit in the Peach State and the best offensive tackle in Georgia. The Georgia Tech freshman is the second best offensive tackle in the country.

It’s safe to say that Petty is a tremendous asset for Tech and head coach Brent Key. According to On3, a name, image and likeness deal worth $2.4 million over three years helped the Yellow Jackets sign the talented offensive tackle.

Petty’s commitment represents a potentially massive turnaround for the Georgia Tech program. Georgia Tech is expected to receive a commitment from Georgia’s recent decommitment.

Petty’s commitment is another example of how Tech is becoming more of a nuisance for the Georgia Bulldogs. One of Georgia’s biggest advantages over other elite college football programs is that it has no in-state recruiting competition. There is no other state with so many top recruits and so little in-state recruiting competition.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart remains in charge of recruiting in the Peach State, and the Bulldogs are expected to sign five of the state’s top six recruits in the 2025 cycle.
