The bride wore Elie Saab and a diamond tiara at her classic English wedding at Drayton House

On Saturday, the couple were married at St. Peter’s Church in Lowick, which was built in the 15th century by Luke’s ancestors. Dressed in Elie Saab, Anna walked arm in arm with her father down the aisle as a choir orchestrated by Quintin Beer of St. Peter’s College, Oxford University sang.

Legendary socialite and style icon Deeda Blair, a close friend of Anna’s mother, played a key role in her bridal styling. “My bridal journey began with iced tea, fabric swatches, and curated dress photos and sketches at the table with my mother and Deeda,” she says. “Hearing their stories, playing dress-up in their apartment, and brainstorming ideas together was the dream start to the process.” Working with the Elie Saab studio, they designed a strapless lace gown with a reticella lace train.

On her head she wore the Stopford Sackville tiara, which consists of six rosette points and a fleur-de-lis on a diamond crown. “Family history and tradition are very important to both of us and it was a privilege to be one of the women who carried it before me,” says Anna. Luke’s mother also gave her daughter-in-law a diamond brooch to put on her bouquet. “As with most special things in life, we are only keepers for the next generation and I hope to one day give it to our son’s wife on her wedding day,” she says.

Luke waited for her at the altar in a bespoke cutaway in sage green – a colour that appears throughout Drayton – by Antonia Ede at Montague Ede.

During the readings, including Bible verses and Shakespeare sonnets delivered by three of their close friends, the couple was overwhelmed by the significance of the moment. “The ceremony was incredibly special,” says Anna. “Luke and I stayed in touch during the ceremony and every time we got emotional, he would rub my arm or I would squeeze his hand. We just had to smile.”

Bells rang and guests threw flower petals as the newlyweds left the church. They then drove off as husband and wife in a 1935 Drophead Bentley Coupe. Meanwhile, the congregation boarded vintage buses back to Drayton, where a cocktail reception was held in the courtyard. Just before dinner was due to begin, servants led them through the house’s historic rooms to a large marquee in the grounds.
