Occasional rain showers end the working week, with the weather returning to the season at the weekend

A low pressure system over northern Minnesota continues to slowly move east and southeast tonight, with remaining showers now tapering off. Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight, while temperatures will drop to around 65°F. Scattered showers caused by weak instability are expected Friday, as an upper-level low moves through the region while a surface low gradually crosses northern Wisconsin. A few cracks of thunder cannot be ruled out, but no severe weather is expected. Humidity will remain noticeable, with afternoon highs around 75°F, below average.

The low pressure system will move into the Great Lakes region on Saturday, and as the weather driers, there will be a slight chance of isolated showers. A ridge will strengthen over the desert southwest, ushering in the weekend with a mix of clouds and sunshine. There will be plenty of sunshine through Sunday with low humidity and a beautiful day to be outside! Temperatures will be much closer to average both days at just above 80 degrees. Next week will start with more sun as an elongated high pressure system builds in the southeast. Meanwhile, the upper ridge will continue to strengthen and gain a foothold in the Great Plains, where highs will remain steady at just above 80 degrees. On Wednesday, the next low pressure system and front will move in from Canada, producing additional clouds through Thursday while sunshine will continue to mix in. For now, the end of the forecast period is expected to remain dry and seasonable temperatures will continue.
