Donald Trump wants to use bulletproof glass at outdoor events

Former President Trump will surround his lectern with bulletproof glass at future outdoor events, a federal source briefed on the plans told Fox News.

However, indoor events do not offer the same level of protection, the source confirmed.

The additional protection came after an assassination attempt on the former president during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last month.

The President was giving an open-air speech when a gunman shot him from the roof of a nearby building.

Trump managed to turn his head and duck under the podium in time. A member of the Secret Service killed the gunman just seconds after he opened fire.

Trump was hit in the ear but did not suffer serious injuries. One spectator in the audience was killed and two others injured.

The breach has led to increased scrutiny by the Secret Service, which was responsible for coordinating with local law enforcement agencies.

Anger over the security breach grew after it was revealed that police had classified the shooter – later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks – as a suspect an hour before the rally began, but then lost sight of him.

The crooks managed to climb to the roof of a building belonging to AGR International Inc., a supplier of automation equipment for the glass and plastic packaging industries, and fired an estimated eight shots with an AR-15-style rifle.
