A look at Jenna Coleman’s stunning wedding dress as Queen Victoria

Jenna Coleman performs for ITV’s Victoriawhich tells the story of the monarch’s early years as Queen of England, also includes wearing some of her most iconic looks. This morning went behind the scenes of the popular period drama to give a glimpse of Jenna’s stunning wedding dress and reveal some secrets from the set.

Speaking to presenter Alison Hammond, the 30-year-old joked about her gorgeous dress, saying: “I’ve never been married on screen – or in real life – so this is my first wedding! It takes me about two hours every day to get ready (for the scenes). I quite like it, although riding in a corset is a new thing!”

Jenna revealed her stunning Victorian wedding dress

She also spoke about her preparation for the role, saying that a trip to Kensington Palace, where Queen Victoria grew up under a strict regime, was an important part of her research. She said: “I read a few books and went to Kensington Palace, there’s so much there.”

Alison also met Tom Hughes, who plays Victoria’s husband Prince Albert, and Rufus Sewell, who plays Prime Minister Lord Melbourne, and joked about their “tight” costumes. Tom said: “I feel bigger but that leaves nothing to the imagination! But thank you, you’re making me blush here.”

Rufus joked about how warm you stay in your costume, saying: “It’s all about thermals… I found that out on this job because we did it in very cold temperatures – and that’s the only thing I learned from this job… Did I learn something about history and royalty? I learned something about thermals!”

Jenna talked about her first major role since leaving Doctor Who as the Doctor’s assistant, Clara Oswold, who revealed that she “couldn’t possibly” turn down the opportunity. At a press conference, she said: “The more I read the script, the more it unfolded before my eyes and I just couldn’t turn it down.”

“I’d be crazy to turn it down. It’s a gift, an absolute gift, to try to bring this to life.”
