Virginia Tech pushes for four-star WR Shamarius Peterkin from the class of 2025

Recruiting for the Class of 2025 has been going well for Virginia Tech and head coach Brent Pry. The Hokies currently have 15 commitments, including 11 from Virginia, but they have lost some in-state recruits to Maryland and other schools.

With a Class of 2025 recruit close to making a decision for next season, North Carolina State was thought to have the best shot at the in-state recruit. Still, 247Sports’ Anna Adams isn’t quite ready to make a crystal ball prediction after learning a few things related to Virginia Tech’s late push.

Adams spoke earlier this week and was about to make a crystal ball prediction in favor of NC State for Shamarius “Snook” Peterkin, but due to some things she has obviously picked up, she is not ready to officially make her prediction yet.

“Have not given up a state pick on 4-star WR Snook Peterkin, who will be announced at his school tomorrow. Have obviously been positive on the Pack’s chances for a while, but not enough to give up a pick in the home stretch. Yesterday and this morning I picked up on some things that make me think VT still makes this a fight until the end. We’ll see.”

As Adams wrote, Peterkin will make his decision tomorrow. It’s not surprising that the Hokies are making a late push, as Fontel Mines has been instrumental in recruiting Pry and Virginia Tech this season and that has led to some big commitments.

According to 247Sports, Peterkin’s final three schools are Virginia Tech, North Carolina and NC State, and if the Hokies can pluck the North Carolina native from both schools, it would be a pretty big recruiting achievement.
