Cineverse cooperates with Wurl to distribute connected TV content

Erik Gruenwedel

On August 15, Cineverse announced an agreement with Wurl, a connected TV aggregator, to support the distribution of its portfolio of free, ad-supported streaming TV channels (FAST), in addition to the launch of new channels.

The partnership will enable Cineverse to streamline channel launches through integration with Matchpoint, the company’s proprietary distribution platform, while also improving monetization. The company hopes this will create opportunities to expand initiatives around content discovery and personalization in the future.

Cineverse will migrate the majority of its existing FAST channels to Wurl’s Global FAST Pass. As part of this transition, Cineverse’s The Bob Ross Channel, Barney, 9 Story Presents: Garfield and Friends, SCREAMBOX TV, the Real Madrid Channel and others will be operated by Wurl.

In the future, Cineverse will launch additional FAST channels through Wurl, including several music channels as part of an expanded offering in the genre.

“With this new partnership, we are already benefiting from greater ease of use, significantly reduced costs, and faster and easier channel launches,” said Tony Huidor, chief operating officer and chief technology officer at Cineverse, in a statement.

Wurl’s Global FAST Pass FAST channel networks span more than 173 million connected TVs and 50+ streamers worldwide. GFP is said to simplify monetization and provide powerful data insights to help content companies optimize and schedule content to drive higher revenue.
