Most Popular Technology for Remote Work and Travel (Video)

Every year, more and more people are given the opportunity to work from home. Some simply set up an office in their home, others commute between cafes and coworking spaces, and still others work while traveling. While I like to change up my work environment occasionally, I always make sure I have my favorite accessories with me to create a comfortable work environment wherever I am. Here are my favorite remote work accessories that everyone should consider!

Be sure to check out our hands-on video below to see all the accessories mentioned in action!

Since we’re talking about working on the go, it’s important for many of these accessories to be portable or serve multiple purposes. The last thing we want is to lug around £50 worth of gear. That defeats the purpose. So let’s get started!

One aspect of working remotely is that you can’t really control what your desk is going to look like. One moment it’s a small round table, the next it’s a standing desk. So I like to regain some of that control by raising my laptop or iPad to eye level to reduce strain. This folding laptop stand from Plugable does just that while remaining super compact.

  • Offers 4 viewing angles: 60, 45, 30 and 25 degrees
  • Supports laptops up to 16 inches in size and weighing up to 11 pounds
  • Also supports tablets
  • Made from vegan leather and non-slip materials

The ease of use, small size, light weight, quality of construction materials and variety of viewing angles ensure that it sits snugly in my travel work bag. The stand is currently available on Amazon for $24.99

You might notice a common thread here: I love foldable tech! This next accessory does just that. The ProtoArc Foldable Keyboard is a full-size chiclet-style keyboard that’s perfect for remote work. It ticks all the boxes I look for in a keyboard.

  • Full-size keyboard with numeric keypad
  • Charges via USB-C with 5 months standby time
  • Connects to up to 3 devices
  • Automatic connection when opening, automatic shutdown when closing
  • Scissor switch buttons

Not only does it fold up so it takes up barely any space, but it’s also extremely lightweight since it’s made of plastic. Combine it with the laptop stand above and you have a portable workstation that you can take anywhere! The ProtoArc Foldable Keyboard is currently on sale at Amazon for $35.99! I’ve had this keyboard for over a year and it’s held up well even with heavy use!

The MX Anywhere series is a compact, low-profile mouse that works on almost any surface, making it perfect for home offices, cafes, and coworking spaces.

Specifications:

  • Compact design
  • Tracking on virtually any surface
  • Next-generation magnetic MagSpeed scroll wheel
  • USB-C fast charging
  • Up to 70 days on a full charge
  • App-specific profiles and button customizations
  • Wireless connectivity and multi-OS
  • Available in light grey, pink and graphite

The MX Anywhere 3 for Mac takes some elements from Logitech’s MX Master series and packs them into a compact profile. Equipped with Logitech’s popular MagSpeed electromagnetic scrolling technology for super-fast, effortless scrolling, the MX Anywhere’s scroll wheel can move up to 1000 lines per second, yet is precise enough to stop on a pixel.

The MX Anywhere 3 lives up to its name and allows users to work in different environments as it can leave a mark on any surface, including glass. This means you can easily go from desktop to couch in the new era of working from home. It’s currently on sale for less than $60, so grab it while you can!

I recently wrote a detailed review of this charger, but I had to mention it again because I’ve used it so much. This is the ideal charger for someone who is on the go a lot. This charger is a no-brainer if you have the big three: iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods. It folds up super compact, but can be unfolded to charge all three devices simultaneously and at high speed. This charger has Qi2 charging capability, so it can charge your iPhone at full speed of 15W!

It offers:

  • 15W fast wireless charging
  • MagSafe compatibility
  • 5W Apple Watch Charger
  • 5W AirPods Charger
  • 30W charger: Ensures you have the power you need for fast charging.
  • USB-C to USB-C Cable: A durable and reliable cable for all your charging needs.
  • 3-in-1 Charger: The star of the show, designed to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods simultaneously.

So for under $80, you get the charger, a cable, a 30W block, and a carrying case, but you also get a super high-quality folding charger that streamlines everything.

This might be my easiest recommendation for anyone working in public spaces or coworking spaces. Amazon has AirPods Pro Gen 2 with USB-C for $189.99! That makes this recommendation even easier. Airpods Pro have top-notch noise cancellation and transparency modes. The battery lasts through a day of Zoom calls and meetings. Then you get all the ecosystem benefits like automatic switching between your devices, simplified connectivity, and charging via MagSafe. So if you haven’t gotten your hands on these yet, I highly recommend them.

I wanted to give everyone an over-ear headphone recommendation. I’ve been using the Sonos Ace since it came out a few months ago and it’s my favorite over-ear headphone on the market. It’s lightweight, incredibly comfortable and has amazing active noise cancellation and transparency modes. If you’re in the Sonos ecosystem, they work even better.

I have a detailed hands-on review here if you want more information and to see if they’re worth the $449 price tag. They’re in the premium segment, with only the AirPods Max being more expensive. But if I had to buy a pair of premium headphones today, I’d go for the Sonos Ace.

Last attempt

I am convinced that remote work is here to stay and will become more common. The key for me is to always have some basic things with me that create a comfortable work environment in any situation. I can be sitting at a small, cluttered coffee table or on a beach somewhere. As long as I have these basic things, I am good to go.

As we said, be sure to check out our video to see even more fun accessories that weren’t mentioned here. But what do you think? What accessories do you use on a daily basis? Do you work from home? Let’s talk about them below!
