Due to a collision and construction, delays are occurring on both sides of Interstate 5 (I-5) north of Everett on Thursday morning.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) posted on X at 5:44 am of an accident on I-5 south of State Route 526 (SR 526) in Everett that blocked both right lanes, adding that medical assistance, fire departments, Washington State Patrol (WSP) and the Incident Response Team were on scene.
At that time, the agency warned travelers that the traffic jam was “about 2 miles long and continuing to expand.”
Shortly before 6:30 a.m., WSDOT reported on X that the collision only blocked the right lane, but the traffic jam grew to about four miles as morning rush hour traffic became increasingly dense. The agency recommended that drivers “pRespond to delays and consider alternative routes.”
WSDOT provided another update on X shortly after 7 a.m.. with the message that the collision had been resolved.
