Man admits theft from fire truck in Redding

An Anderson man was arrested by Redding police after a cooler filled with water and Gatorade was stolen from a Cal Fire emergency vehicle.

On Monday, August 5, according to the Redding Police Department (RPD), a cooler valued at $350 was stolen from a service vehicle belonging to a Cal Fire Strike Team dispatched to the area to help fight the Park Fire. Police say the vehicle was parked at the Holiday Inn at 1900 Hilltop Drive.

During their investigation, officers identified Jacob Woolery, 41, of Anderson, as a suspect in the theft. Police say Woolery is on probation for burglary, possession of stolen property, robbery and domestic violence.

The following day, August 6, a police officer and deputy from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) arrived at Woolery’s home near Lassen Avenue in Anderson to conduct a probation search. After searching Woolery’s home, officers found the stolen cooler as well as drug paraphernalia, according to RPD.

When speaking with Woolery, the RPD stated that he admitted to stealing the cooler from the Cal Fire vehicle.

Ultimately, Woolery was booked into the Shasta County Jail for violating his probation, petty theft, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
