LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – According to the Metropolitan Police Department (Metro), a male juvenile was arrested in connection with three robberies of students near Clark County School District high schools on the second day of school.
The robberies occurred Tuesday afternoon near Spring Valley, Valley and Durango high schools. The first incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Rainbow Boulevard, followed by another in the 7600 block of West Flamingo Road just moments later. About an hour later, a third robbery was reported in the 4800 block of Burnham Avenue.
Metro identified a suspicious vehicle near Flamingo Road and Buffalo Drive on Wednesday afternoon and arrested a male juvenile matching the description.
While Nevada state law defines a robbery as the taking of personal property through force or intimidation, Metro has not released details about the items stolen or whether any victims were injured.
Deputy Chief Jose Hernandez stressed that the department believes this is an isolated incident and that a comprehensive safety plan for students is in place. He urged parents and students to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
