FAIRFAX– The George Mason women’s soccer team opens the 2024 season on Thursday, August 15, against Elonth at 7 p.m. The game against Elon is the first of three consecutive games to be played outside of Fairfax.

This matchup is the first game of the regular season for both teams. Elon won both of its exhibition games against USC Upstate and East Carolina.


The Patriots won a friendly against Hampton last Saturday. KK O’Donnell had an exceptional performance, scoring two goals in her first game for the Patriots.


The Patriots are led by a new head coach Aaron Brunner. Brunner is a Virginia native with nearly 25 years of coaching experience and just won a national championship with Florida State. For the past two seasons, Brunner has been an assistant coach and was part of the Seminoles coaching staff that was named United Soccer Coaches’ 2023 Coaching Staff of the Year.

George Mason returns its top three point scorers from last season as well as its top two goal scorers. Milan Pierre-Jeromereturns for her fifth year after a two-goal season last season. Rachel Eberly led the Patriots in assists while as a sophomore Molly Starr scored two goals in her first season.

George Mason won the only game in history between the Patriots and the Phoenix in 1987, 2-0.

The Patriots will stay in North Carolina to play Campbell on Sunday, August 18 at 2 p.m. at Buies Creek.
