Former Georgia Tech forward Tyzhaun Claude has transferred to North Carolina, his agents told On3’s Joe Tipton.

Claude averaged 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 32 games for the Yellow Jackets last season, mostly as a substitute.

The move is the third transfer for the 6-foot-8 senior. He began his career with two seasons at Morehead State, then played one season at Western Carolina before transferring to Georgia Tech.

Now he is set to join Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels for his final year as an NCAA player.

Claude had a standout season for Western Carolina in 2021-22, averaging 15.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

The forward is entering his sixth collegiate season after spending three years at Morehead State. After missing some time early in his career due to injury, the forward received a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible to play in the 2024-25 season.

Claude averaged 17.4 minutes per game for the Yellow Jackets reserve team last season.

His field goal percentage was 49.5 percent, his attempts from behind the three-point line were minimal, and in his final season he made 1 of 7 three-point shots.

Claude was the most effective at the basket, ranking second on the team with 2.4 offensive rebounds per game.

After 102 collegiate appearances and 51 starts, Claude will now bring his experienced presence and offensive rebounding skills to the Tar Heels squad.

The new addition comes at a good time for UNC’s frontcourt, which is undergoing a transformation this offseason following the departure of Armando Bacot to the Utah Jazz.

Right now, UNC’s frontcourt looks like it will be led by Cade Tyson, who transferred from Belmont, and two returning reserves, Jae’Lyn Withers and Jalen Washington.

Claude is a relatively small forward, which will be an obstacle in his fight for playing time in Chapel Hill. But if he can rely on his offensive rebounding, he could prove to be a key backup for a Tar Heels team in search of a national championship.
